About the Green Teams National Programme

What is the Green Teams National Programme?

The Green Teams National Programme is a Training and Support programme which offers new skills and tools for green team members and environmental champions to help them improve the environmental performance and resource efficiency of their organisation and achieve environmental, business and social benefits in the process. The aim is to help green team members to promote sustainable action in the workplace.

The Programme was developed through the Green Enterprise initiative of the Environmental Protection Agency and is delivered by Consulteco environmental consultants and Waterford Institute of Technology.

Who is the programme for?

The Green Team National Programme is mainly for staff who are currently nominated as ‘environmental champions’ or green team members, or equivalent, or other members of staff who may be involved in promoting good environmental practice in their organisation (outside of energy or environmental managers and technical/engineering staff dedicated to energy or environmental issues).

It is expected that individual participants in the course are not specialists in all the resource efficiency themes covered.

Prerequisites for the programme

Participants should be working in an area where he/she can potentially influence a reasonable number of colleagues on resource use in the workplace.

The Participant does not need to have a professional technical understanding of the technical aspects of resource use, however they should have an interest in, and commitment to sustainability issues. Participants should also be effective communicators and be well organised.

Programme delivery

The programme is delivered by Consulteco Limited and the Waterford Institute of Technology. It is delivered through a combination of face-to-face workshops, online self-study activities and an onsite project in the workplace. There are a number of face-to-face workshops during the programme, lasting up to 1-day each.

The training programme is presented through a number of modules and learning materials and activities are suggested for self-study. Participants are given access to a range of resources and supported to carry out a workplace project. They and can also take part in the online peer-to-peer support network.
